When my grandmother handed me that bottle, I didn’t think much of it.

She used to mix it herself in the village.

She would use cinnamon bark, aloe vera and piper nigrum.

She’d pour it into an old gin bottle because that’s what was available.

No label, no name.

Everybody in the family just called it “Mama’s mixture.”

If your stomach was acting up, or you couldn’t sleep, someone would say “have you taken from Mama’s bottle?”

I left the village for the city, then later left the country entirely.

You know how it is, chasing a better life abroad.

And with that came the wahala that comes with it.

Long nights, no proper sleep, stomach never settling from all the strange food and stress.

I tried a lot of things. None of them worked the way I hoped.

One day I called my grandmother and asked her to actually write down what she puts in that bottle.

She had never written it down in her life, she just knew it by hand and by eye.

It took a few calls to get the measurements close to right.

I started making it myself. And slowly, things changed.

My nights got better. My stomach settled. I felt more like myself again.

I couldn’t keep that to myself.

So I took her recipe, got it properly tested, and got it NAFDAC approved because I wanted people to trust it the way my family always did, but also know it’s safe and certified.

That’s how AfrOganiks Cleanser Herbal Bitters came about.

Same mixture. Same ingredients my grandmother used. Just properly bottled this time.
